Snapshot Report September 2025
Workforce
Julia Kis
MRP Workforce Project Manager
What we’ve done
As we continue with the vital task of planning staffing for the new hospital, we’ve agreed the workforce requirements for inclusion in the Full Business Case that we’re currently finishing. This milestone follows engagement with senior leads in departments and services.
We met with colleagues working on other aspects of the project – digital, service redesign, Community Benefits and commissioning & migration. This helps us to continue to refine workforce requirements as their strategic plans develop.
What we’ve planned
There’ll be more updates to our workforce plan and development of our goals for recruitment and training.
Community benefits
Lesley Aitken
MRP Community Benefits Engagement Lead
What we’ve done
Community Benefits are developed and implemented through the Monklands Replacement Project (MRP) team and construction partner Laing O’Rourke.
A total of 18 successful candidates for graduate and professional apprenticeship positions started work with Laing O’Rourke. We’ve also been talking to North and South Lanarkshire education colleagues to see how the project could tie in with pupils’ learning needs.
What we’ve planned
We’ll continue work to maximise Community Benefits during the current pre-construction phase and then the construction phase, aligned to the Community Benefits themes – economic, employment, training, environmental, and community priorities.
Digital
Maureen McGinn
MRP Digital Lead
What we’ve done
We’re driving ahead with planning for a “digital hospital” that will use the latest tech to benefit patients, visitors and staff.
Our Digital Hospital Delivery Group meets every month and we’re currently focusing on a range of requirements.
Final rounds of engagement have allowed us to refine the shortlist of digital requirements. We also held a digital collaboration workshop the health board’s digital stakeholders, and there are more to come.
What we’ve planned
Technology is always changing and improving so we’ve refreshed our digital strategy and it will be sent round for checking through our system of governance. We’ll also finalise our shortlist of digital needs.
Service redesign
Donna McHenry
Service Redesign Lead
What we’ve done
This part of the project looks at how services can be redesigned to maximise how well they work in the new hospital.
We’ve had engagement sessions with colleagues in cancer care, the Hospital Emergency Care Team and physiotherapy, allowing us to update their individual plans for how services will work in the new Monklands. We’ve also been looking at the clinical research facility in the hospital.
What we’ve planned
We’ll be developing the programme for sessions in the Immersive Suite, the project’s impressive learning and engagement centre that uses eye-catching digital technology to bring the hospital plans to life.
There will be more sessions with staff in wards and departments to agree how their services will make a smooth transition into the new hospital.
