The council team planning Lanarkshire’s new link road and the head of the Glasgow City Region’s Project Management Office visited the site of the new University Hospital Monklands to discuss how the projects are working together.
The East Airdrie Link Road (EALR), currently under development, is planned to improve connectivity and reduce journey times across the region, including providing access to the new hospital site at Wester Moffat in Airdrie.
The EALR, part of the Glasgow City Region City Deal, will be delivered by North Lanarkshire Council and is designed to provide a single-carriageway strategic link between the M8 at Newhouse and the A73 south of Cumbernauld, to the east of Airdrie.
The Monklands Replacement Project (MRP) team and the council’s project team are working in close partnership on the projects.
