MRP Security Strategy

Kathryn Henderson
Senior Project Manager

What we’ve done

We are working with our security consultants at Hoare Lea to develop a security strategy which encompasses all forms of internal and external security measures across the new hospital site. Hoare Lea will provide recommendations based on industry best practice as well as the feedback received from stakeholders and the project team during security strategy workshops. The security strategy is currently being finalised and will be incorporated into the design for the new hospital once accepted.

What we’ve got planned

The final draft of the security strategy will incorporate all of the feedback received at security strategy workshops in July. Stakeholders were given an opportunity during these workshops to input on the types of security measures that would work best across the new site.

What we’ve done

A first draft of the Arts Strategy has been received and is currently being reviewed by the MRP Team. This strategy aims to integrate artworks throughout the new hospital site with clear signage to enable staff, patients and visitors to easily navigate the new building and its surroundings.

What we’ve got planned

The next phase will include establishing an Arts & Therapeutic Design Steering Group. The steering group will work closely with the project design team to involve staff, patients and the community in the decision-making process. The provision of art in a healthcare setting has been proven to improve staff wellbeing and aims to create a calm, welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

What we’ve got planned

Detailed work with individual departments and stakeholders to look at the flow of people through the site will begin in the Autumn.

MRP Community Benefits

Community Benefits and Engagement Lead

What we’ve done

Our construction partner Laing O’Rourke hosted a second Meet the Buyer Event at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on 11 July. The event focused on mechanical, electrical & plumbing businesses and was well attended.

We hosted a Summer School that allowed students in S4 and S5 the opportunity to come along and experience working within a healthcare project. The week-long 2024 Summer School kicked off on 29 July, with a focus on facilities management, which includes various NHS Lanarkshire jobs such as building maintenance, domestic services and estates management.

The young people took part in a range of activities over the course of the week to gain real-life work experience. More information on the summer school will be in the Pulse.

What we’ve got planned

Plans are being finalised for the MRP Careers Roadshow to be delivered in Autumn. The project team will visit secondary schools across Lanarkshire to give pupils the opportunity to learn about the various careers involved in a large healthcare construction project.
