Snapshot Report August 2025
Workforce
Julia Kis
MRP Workforce Project Manager
What we’ve done
Engagement with senior leads continues to finalise workforce requirements. We’re also
working closely with the MRP’s finance lead to review updated figures and associated
revenue costs. The MRP workforce plan has been finished for submission to Scottish
Government colleagues for an upcoming review session that will produce feedback to
inform our Full Business Case.
What we’ve planned
Finalisation of our workforce figures and revenue requirements along with further updating of the workforce plan.
Community benefits
Lesley Aitken
MRP Community Benefits Engagement Lead
What we’ve done
Benefits are developed and implemented through the MRP team and construction partner Laing O’Rourke. Work continues to develop the network and links to form the delivery of the Community Benefits programme. We’re finalising work experience opportunities with project partners Hoare Lee, an engineering consultancy, and looking at opportunities to link with local colleges and universities.
Laing O’Rourke attended the Positive Pathways career event at Airdrie Academy and recruited to professional apprenticeships (one planner, three civil engineers) and graduate posts (one planning, one procurement, one design, three quantity surveyors, two civil engineers).
What we’ve planned
Continued planning with education and project partners for this financial year’s delivery of our programme. We’ll take part in NHS Lanarkshire’s NextGen careers event for school students in September.
Digital
Maureen McGinn
MRP Digital Lead
What we’ve done
The refreshed digital strategy was agreed after going through our governance process. Work concluded with our healthcare planner and NHS Lanarkshire Digital Department colleagues on a workforce planning and resource model. Two workshops were held about a longlist of digital requirements. Work is now complete on the review and costing of a consolidated list of digital equipment.
What we’ve planned
Finalising requirements for the “digital twin” – a virtual model of the physical hospital building. A digital requirements shortlist is to be agreed and completed and we’ll have more collaboration with NHS Lanarkshire Digital Department colleagues.
Operational commissioning
Fiona Cowan
MRP Clinical Lead
What we’ve done
We learned about “robots” when we visited the recently-opened Midland Metropolitan Hospital near Birmingham. Along with project partners, we found out about the use of automated guided vehicles, which can transport things like waste, linen, food and medical supplies around hospitals. The group also had a site tour and feedback was given to the wider MRP team.
What we’ve planned
We’ll continue engagement with construction partner Laing O’Rourke and our lead advisors to drive forward the completion of our Full Business Case including the overall combined programme, costs and resource proposals.
