Workforce Planning
Julia Kis
MRP Workforce Planning Project Manager
What we’ve done
Initial meetings have taken place with the Ward User Group. The group completed a process mapping exercise allowing core ward users to indicate activities undertaken in a ward during a 24 hour period. Information gathered will help us to understand the roles and responsibilities of each staff group as well as enabling us to identify opportunities for service optimisation. A short life working group has also been established for the Administrative and Clerical (A&C) function and this group has started to look at what admin roles will look like in a digital hospital.
What we’ve got planned
Meetings have commenced with operational and service leads across job families as part of a revised governance process. The aim is to revisit departmental position as it was at Outline Business Case stage and discuss what, if anything, has changed since. These meetings will continue over the coming months, allowing us to gather crucial information to inform the Full Business Case.
MRP Immersive Suite
Kathryn Henderson
MRP Senior Project Manager
What we’ve done
Work will begin on the current site to build an Immersive Suite which will be a functional education and showcase focal point for NHSL staff during the project design and construction phases and will enable familiarisation with the new hospital facility. The space will allow us to bring some of the design drawings to life in virtual reality format and will facilitate collaborative working between internal staff, advisors and our construction partner, Laing O’Rourke.
What we’ve got planned
Progress on the Immersive Suite will be shared in future snapshot reports and details on when/how you can book sessions will be made available.
MRP Community Benefits
Lesley Aitken
Community Benefits and Engagement Lead
What we’ve done
The initial week long MRP Summer School took place in August 2023 to give students from local schools the opportunity to engage with the project and our design team to learn the skills required to develop architectural designs for the new hospital. This was a great success with 16 pupils attending and completing the mock project.
What we’ve got planned
We are engaging with schools across Lanarkshire to bring another Summer School project together this year. We are working with our Lead Advisor team to offer school students across Lanarkshire the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of work experience on a construction project. We are excited to give the students the opportunity to use our Immersive Suite to bring some of the work they do at the Summer School to life.
MRP Wayfinding
Donna McHenry
Service Redesign Lead
What we’ve done
Our project partners, Sign Brand (wayfinding) and Ginkgo (art) are collaborating with our design team, Keppie Design, to bring together an interlinked strategy which looks at using signage, colour themes and art installations among other strategies, to help patients and staff navigate around the new hospital easily.
What we’ve got planned
The strategy for the new hospital is moving towards final draft and will be presented to stakeholders in the next few months for feedback and suggestions on how we can make the new hospital as easily navigable as possible. Our vision is that a clear, well planned strategy will mean less stress for staff, patients and visitors making their way around the new hospital.
